Yemeni Ambassador in Morocco discusses Houthi escalation
The Yemeni Ambassador to Morocco, Ezzeldin Al-Asbahi, held a press conference to discuss the ongoing developments in Yemen and the impact of Houthi militia actions. Al-Asbahi criticized the Houthi group for undermining state institutions, deepening societal divisions, and threatening international maritime security since their takeover in 2014.
During the briefing, the Ambassador highlighted the humanitarian suffering in Taiz, noting that the city faces a suffocating siege and frequent missile attacks on residential areas. He emphasized that the Houthi movement has fueled sectarian and regional conflicts, which threatens the country's social fabric.
Al-Asbahi also pointed to Morocco as a model for Yemen to follow, specifically regarding its experiences in transitional justice and decentralization. He suggested that Yemen could benefit from Morocco’s approach to managing regional governance and addressing the consequences of past conflicts to help rebuild state partnerships and stability.
