Yemeni Coast Guard head inspects Bab al-Mandab and Perim Island
Major General Khalid al-Qamali, head of the Yemeni Coast Guard Authority, conducted inspection visits to strategic locations including the Al-Ardi site in Bab al-Mandab and the Coast Guard center on Perim Island.
During the inspections, al-Qamali assessed operational readiness and reviewed damage sustained at the Al-Ardi site due to Houthi militia attacks. He emphasized the need to restore site capabilities and improve response efficiency to secure vital maritime corridors and combat smuggling and illegal activities.
Al-Qamali stressed that securing Bab al-Mandab requires integrated national efforts and enhanced coordination with regional and international partners. The visit follows reports from naval forces regarding an engagement with five Houthi boats that attempted to approach liberated islands in the Red Sea, which were subsequently forced to flee toward the Hodeidah coast.
