Yemeni Human Rights Commission meets UN officials in Geneva

The National Commission of Inquiry on Alleged Violations of Human Rights met with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva to discuss the implementation of a Human Rights Council decision. The discussions focused on executive mechanisms for providing technical and institutional capacity-building assistance to the Commission.

Judge Ahmed Saeed Al-Miflihi, head of the Commission, emphasized the need to translate the Human Rights Council's October 2025 decision into practical programs. These programs should address the Commission's actual needs, specifically developing investigation team capabilities and enhancing tools for documenting and preserving evidence. The Commission continues to investigate allegations of violations committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Nassour, head of the Middle East and North Africa division at the UN High Commissioner's office, noted current resource and capacity constraints that impact the scope of support and the ability to meet established obligations. The Human Rights Council previously commended the Commission's progress in field operations and documentation mechanisms.
