Yemen's Tariq Saleh announces formation of Tihami Resistance

Tariq Saleh, Deputy Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and commander of the National Resistance, has announced the formation of an independent military force named the ‘Tihami Resistance’. The new entity incorporates the first and second divisions of the National Resistance and will operate with full financial, administrative, and operational autonomy.

Major General Zayed Mansar has been appointed to lead the newly established force. While the Tihami Resistance maintains independence, its operational scope will be coordinated with the joint operations of the Arab Coalition to which it is directly affiliated.

The announcement follows an escalation of military activity on Yemen's western coast. Recent reports indicate Houthi forces have seized control of several districts in the Hodeidah and Taiz governorates, as well as islands in the Red Sea, including Perim Island near the Bab al-Mandab strait. Concurrently, Yemeni government forces have reported advances in Al-Jawf governorate and conducted airstrikes against Houthi positions in Mocha, Taiz, Lahj, and Al-Dhale.
