Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art hosts mental health workshop
The Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art (YSMA), in partnership with the Art for Health Initiative (AHI), conducted a two-day workshop titled “What We Carry: Stories of Mental Health and Resilience.” Held on October 2 and 3, 2026, the Health Story Lab aimed to use artistic expression as a tool for communicating complex emotional experiences such as stress, grief, and social pressure.
The program involved 25 art students from the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) Epe Annex. Participants engaged in multidisciplinary sessions led by specialists in public health, psychiatry, and art history to explore how creative practices can facilitate dialogue regarding emotional well-being and social change.
