Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac named UNESCO World Heritage site
The Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac complex of monuments and landscapes has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site for 2025. This expansive heritage space connects various locations across Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong provinces in northern Vietnam.
The site is significant for its combination of natural landscapes, religious architecture, and historical milestones. It specifically reflects the formation and development of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism during the Tran Dynasty. Yen Tu Mountain is noted as the birthplace of this Vietnamese Buddhist tradition, closely associated with King Tran Nhan Tong, who abdicated his throne to pursue spiritual life after leading the Dai Viet people to victory against the Mongol invaders.
