YENİ Parti leaders demand accountability over Turkish fund crisis

Political figures from the YENİ Parti are calling for investigations into a growing fund crisis in Turkey that threatens hundreds of thousands of investors. Yücel Balkanlı, the party's founding provincial chairman for Edirne, stated that 131 funds belonging to seven portfolio companies have put investors at risk of significant loss.

Balkanlı raised questions regarding the effectiveness of state oversight, specifically questioning the roles of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Capital Markets Board (SPK), and MASAK. He emphasized that the issue is not merely financial but a matter of public trust in state regulatory mechanisms.

Murat Emir, YENİ Parti Group Deputy Chairman, also addressed the crisis in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He argued that the crisis was predictable and that the responsibility lies with regulatory bodies such as the SPK, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), and the Ministry of Finance. Emir further asserted that ultimate responsibility rests with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan due to his role in appointing the officials overseeing these institutions.
