Yenişehir Municipality receives Zero Waste Certificate

The Yenişehir Municipality in Mersin has been awarded the ‘Zero Waste Certificate for Local Authorities’ by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. This certification recognizes the district-wide integrated waste management system implemented by the municipality.

The system includes a central Waste Collection Center, eight mobile collection centers, and a door-to-door packaging waste collection service. The municipality also manages specialized collection for textile waste, organic waste, vegetable oils, and expired medicines to ensure recyclable materials are reintegrated into the economy.

Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit attributed the success to the joint efforts of the municipality and its citizens, stating that work will continue to ensure a cleaner and healthier Yenişehir.
