Latin American institutions install new legislative and sectoral leadership
Various legislative and institutional bodies across Latin America have installed new leadership or commissions for the 2026-2027 period.
In Chile, Raimundo Rencoret Ríos was elected president of the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) for the 2026-2028 term. His leadership team includes Helen Martin Urrutia, Francisco Costabal González, and Cristóbal Paúl Pérez. Rencoret aims to address housing deficits, infrastructure, and investment.
In Peru, the Congress installed its Permanent Commission for the 2026-2027 session, led by President Miguel Torres. This 36-member body maintains legislative authority during congressional recesses. Additionally, the Energy and Mining Commission of the Chamber of Deputies elected Yenifer Paredes Navarro as president, with a focus on decentralized regional visits to areas like Cajamarca and Pataz.
In Colombia, the Chamber of Representatives installed its Peace and Post-Conflict Commission, with Tatiana Judith Gaona Pinzón as president. Meanwhile, political parties are preparing for the August 25 election of nine magistrates for the National Electoral Council (CNE).
In Mexico, the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) formally installed its 16 Permanent and Special Commissions of the University Council under Rector Yarabí Ávila González.
