Yeoju to host inaugural bread festival featuring local specialties

The Yeoju Sejong Cultural Tourism Foundation has announced the inaugural ‘Yeoju Alley Big Bread Festival,’ scheduled to take place from October 9 to 10 near the Namhangang Suspension Bridge in Yeoju.

The festival aims to connect local agricultural products with the bakery industry. It will feature 25 local bakeries and 8 famous bakeries from across the country. Special emphasis is placed on using Yeoju’s signature crops, such as rice, sweet potatoes, and peanuts, to create unique baked goods like ‘Yeogo-ppang’ (sweet potato bread).

Beyond food sales, the event is designed as a ‘bread amusement park,’ offering various programs including celebratory performances, bubble shows, a bread cosplay award ceremony, and hands-on activities such as cookie decorating and making ‘Yeogo-ppang’ for families.
