Yeon Sang-ho returns with new horror film Colony
Director Yeon Sang-ho, known for the 2016 film ‘Train to Busan’, is releasing a new horror film titled ‘Colony’. The film is set to premiere in theaters on August 28.
Unlike his previous work, ‘Colony’ features a unique take on the zombie genre where the infected function as a hive mind. The story follows Kwon Se-jeong, a biotech professor played by Jun Ji-hyun, who becomes trapped in a building after a biological weapon is unleashed. The infected creatures in the film are characterized by their ability to communicate and move as a collective community.
Yeon Sang-ho stated that the film uses the concept of the zombie colony to explore themes of collective thinking and the rapid exchange of information in the age of social networks and artificial intelligence. The cast includes Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rok, and Go Soo.
