Yeoncheon County opens Imjin River Kochia Garden

Yeoncheon County has opened the ‘Imjin River Kochia Garden’ in Samgot-ri, Jung-myeon, which will operate until October 18. The garden was developed on an area of approximately 82,390 square meters that was previously overgrown with invasive species following the construction of the Gunnam Dam.

The garden features 23,000 kochia plants, along with zinnia, buckwheat flowers, and cosmos, set against the riverside scenery of the Imjin River. To facilitate visitor access, temporary buses will run 16 times a day between Yeoncheon Station and the garden, with fares matching Gyeonggi-do city bus rates. A city tour bus will also operate three times daily from Thursday to Sunday, though service is suspended on the Chuseok holiday.

On-site attractions include food booths operated by the Jung-myeon Merchants Association, a local agricultural products market, and a promotional booth for the upcoming ‘Peace Garden’ scheduled for completion in 2027. The booth will offer experiential programs such as flower pot making and photo zones.
