Yeongdeok County announces detour routes for Chuseok traffic

Yeongdeok County has announced detour routes and traffic management plans to mitigate expected congestion at the Yeongdeok Interchange (IC) during the Chuseok holiday from September 24 to 27.

As the junction for both the Sangju–Yeongdeok and Pohang–Yeongdeok Expressways, the Yeongdeok IC is expected to experience significant bottlenecks due to a high volume of returning residents and tourists. To alleviate this, officials recommend that Hi-pass users on the Pohang–Yeongdeok Expressway utilize the Nam-Yeongdeok IC instead. Drivers on the Sangju–Yeongdeok Expressway are advised to exit early via the Dongcheongsong or Yeongyang ICs depending on their destination and real-time traffic conditions.

The county is coordinating with the Yeongdeok Police Station to implement flexible traffic signal operations at the Namsan Service Area intersection. Additionally, Yeongdeok County has requested the Korea Expressway Corporation to provide real-time congestion and detour information via electronic highway signs. Travelers are encouraged to use the ‘Expressway Traffic Information’ app to monitor road conditions before departure.
