Yeongdeungpo-gu to host 30th Senior Citizens Day festival

Yeongdeungpo-gu will host the 30th Senior Citizens Day Commemoration and Cultural Arts Festival on October 1 at the Yeongdeungpo Art Hall. The event aims to honor the contributions of elderly citizens to national and local development and to promote a culture of filial piety.

The ceremony is divided into two parts. The first part includes a performance by the district's senior choir, the reading of the Senior Citizens' Code, and an awards ceremony. A total of 25 honors will be presented, including 13 exemplary seniors, 9 contributors to elderly welfare, and 3 model senior centers.

The second part features a cultural arts festival with diverse performances, such as traditional drum plays by children, accordion music, magic shows, belly dancing, and trot music.

In conjunction with the event, the district will carry out welfare initiatives, including visiting 15 centenarians to present them with 'Cheongryeojang' (traditional longevity canes) and providing consolation funds to 178 facilities, including 168 senior centers and 10 elderly classrooms.
