Yeongjong-gu launches first Youth Participation Committee

Yeongjong-gu in Incheon has launched its first Youth Participation Committee to integrate young people's perspectives into local government policies. The committee, established under the Framework Act on Youth and local ordinances, consists of 16 members selected through public recruitment and institutional recommendations.

From now until December, the committee members will propose opinions on youth-related policies and projects, plan and operate communication programs for residents, and participate in local youth events. Notably, they will assist in planning the Youth Culture Festival scheduled for October to ensure the event reflects youth perspectives.

District Head Son Hwa-jeong stated that the committee will serve as a vital communication channel to deliver youth voices directly to the administration, emphasizing that the district will actively support and listen to their ideas to turn them into practical policies.
