Yeongju City begins replacement project for aging Hanjeong Bridge

Yeongju City has officially commenced a bridge replacement project for the aging Hanjeong Bridge to ensure structural safety and improve the local transportation network. The city held a kickoff meeting for the basic and detailed design services to discuss the project's direction and planning.

Completed in 1989, the Hanjeong Bridge connects Munjeong-dong and Joam-dong. Due to aging, the structure received a safety rating of D, and its load-bearing capacity has significantly declined. While the city has performed ongoing repairs, officials determined that a full replacement is necessary to address these fundamental issues.

The proposed replacement bridge is expected to be approximately 200 meters long and 20 meters wide, featuring a four-lane roadway. The design process will analyze current traffic volume and future demand to optimize road alignment and pedestrian safety. Once completed, the project is expected to enhance connectivity between the western growth hubs, including the Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex, and the existing urban center.
