Yeongju City Council Chairman meets Vietnamese Ambassador to promote ginseng

Lee Sang-geun, Chairman of the Yeongju City Council, met with the Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea, Vũ Hồ, to discuss expanding economic, agricultural, and cultural exchanges through the promotion of Punggi ginseng.

During the meeting, Chairman Lee highlighted the historical ties between Yeongju and Vietnam dating back to the Goryeo Dynasty, specifically noting the connection to the descendants of the Vietnamese Lý Dynasty. The discussions focused on utilizing Punggi ginseng as a medium to broaden export markets in Vietnam and strengthening human exchanges, including the role of Vietnamese seasonal workers and marriage immigrants in the local agricultural sector.

Ambassador Vũ Hồ expressed interest in the history and benefits of Punggi ginseng and accepted an official invitation to attend the 2026 Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival, scheduled to take place from October 3 to October 11.
