Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik outlines 100-day administrative reforms
Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik marked his first 100 days in office by announcing a shift in administrative focus toward changing how the public sector operates. During a press conference, Hwang emphasized the importance of establishing a ‘change DNA’ within the civil service, prioritizing finding solutions over identifying obstacles.
Key administrative reforms include the introduction of a ‘three-stage civil complaint system,’ where unresolved issues are escalated to senior officials for re-examination. He also highlighted efforts to reduce unnecessary protocol and improve accessibility for citizens, such as reviewing city hall parking improvements.
Regarding economic development, the mayor is focusing on attracting corporate investment and fostering future industries. This includes supporting the Yeongju Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex and exploring advanced drone defense projects using local emergency runways. Additionally, the city is investigating service robot implementation in agriculture to address labor shortages and pursuing the establishment of a National Gugak Center branch in Yeongju to boost cultural tourism.
