Yeongwol to host 2026 Republic of Korea Garden Industry Expo
Gangwon State, Yeongwol County, and the Korea Forest Service will host the 2026 Republic of Korea Yeongwol Garden Industry Expo from October 2 to 11 at the Cheongnyeongpo Garden in Yeongwol-eup. Under the theme ‘Nature’s Story Becomes a Garden,’ the event features the ‘King’s Garden,’ a specialized garden designed by artist Park Jeong-ah. This installation uses garden art to depict the life of King Danjong, who was exiled to Cheongnyeongpo, and his longing for Queen Jeongsun. To enhance the historical significance, three pine trees from the Queen’s tomb (Sareung) were transplanted to the site.
The expo includes a variety of programs such as the Korea Garden Show, a garden industry exhibition showcasing plants and landscaping materials, and an international garden symposium where experts will discuss the history and value of royal gardens. This event is part of a broader regional effort to promote garden culture and industry in Gangwon, with Chuncheon and Gangneung also pursuing national garden designations to boost tourism and the local economy.
