Yeonsu-gu Mayor urges Incheon City to resolve GTX-B substation dispute
Yeonsu-gu District Mayor Lee Jae-ho has called on Incheon Metropolitan City and the project operator, GTX-B Co., Ltd., to take direct responsibility for persuading residents regarding the installation of a substation near Cheonghak Station.
The project, a critical component of the Great Train eXpress (GTX)-B line, has faced delays in ground investigations due to local opposition. Residents of Biryu Village have expressed concerns over the substation, leading Yeonsu-gu to reject applications for park occupation permits required for the necessary surveys.
Mayor Lee emphasized that while the district office handles administrative permissions, the responsibility for explaining the necessity and ensuring public acceptance lies with the city and the project operator. In response, Incheon City and GTX-B Co., Ltd. have indicated plans to hold briefing sessions and participate in resident consultative body meetings to minimize conflict and secure public consent.
