Yeosu World Island Expo draws 127,000 visitors during Chuseok holiday

The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo saw a significant surge in attendance during the Chuseok holiday period, drawing over 127,000 visitors in just two days. On September 25, the event recorded its highest single-day attendance since opening, with approximately 67,000 visitors, followed by roughly 60,000 visitors on September 26 despite inclement weather.

The increase in crowds is attributed to a combination of holiday travelers, group visits from nearby regions, and newly introduced interactive programs. These included AI-powered docents, drone piloting experiences, and various scavenger hunts designed to appeal to families with children. Free admission benefits for large families and those wearing traditional Hanbok also contributed to the turnout.

Cultural performances played a major role in maintaining momentum. A K-POP concert held on the evening of September 26 featured performances by QWER, OneWE, and Cherry Filter, attracting large crowds to the main venue. Simultaneously, the Geumodo Festival took place at the secondary venue in Uhak Port, featuring various guest singers to engage both residents and tourists. The expo continues through November 4, with scheduled maintenance closures and upcoming festivals planned for October.
