Yeosu World Island Expo expands entertainment and programs

The Yeosu World Island Expo is expanding its program of performances and experiential activities to encourage longer visitor stays. Following feedback regarding a lack of evening entertainment during the initial opening period, the organizing committee has introduced the ‘Weekly Concert’ series on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Specialized culinary and cultural events are also being integrated into the schedule. This includes a weekly ‘Island Cooking Show’ held on Sundays, featuring Master Chef Ahn Yu-seong, who demonstrates dishes using local island ingredients such as sea bream and octopus. Other scheduled attractions include West African traditional music, dance performances by popular YouTubers, and creative dance dramas depicting local legends.

The expo features various themed zones, including the ‘Treasure Island’ experiential exhibition designed for children, which utilizes augmented reality and interactive missions. The ‘International Exchange Island’ pavilion showcases the natural heritage and traditional cultures of 30 overseas local governments and international organizations, including the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

To facilitate tourism, the expo offers a 50% discount on ferry fares for visitors from other regions. The event is scheduled to run until November 4 at the Dolsan Jinmo district, the Yeosu World Expo site, and the islands of Gaedo and Geumodo.
