Yeosu World Island Expo hits record daily attendance during Chuseok
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo recorded its highest single-day attendance since opening, with 67,000 visitors arriving on the Chuseok holiday. The surge in visitors is attributed to the expansion of hands-on, participatory content designed to attract families and travelers returning to their hometowns.
New attractions include an AI docent named ‘Dasomi’ that provides exhibition explanations, drone piloting experiences, and various interactive games such as ‘treasure hunts’ and thread-linking activities. The expo also features evening events like wish boat floating and K-pop concerts. To encourage attendance, special entry benefits are available through September 27, including free admission for three-generation families and those wearing Hanbok.
While the expo has seen success with family-oriented activities, some visitors have noted that the density of content for adults remains limited, particularly regarding high-tech simulations. However, the organizers report a positive response to the reinforced programming and aim to continue improving the visitor experience through the end of the event on November 4.
