Yeouido Hangang Park convenience store faces price tag controversy

A consumer has raised concerns regarding a price discrepancy at a convenience store located in Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul. The individual reported that while the shelf price for a container of instant rice was marked at 2,000 won, the actual amount charged at checkout was 2,400 won.

According to the consumer, when the discrepancy was pointed out, the staff member claimed that prices had increased last year but the price tags had not been updated. The consumer expressed frustration not only over the 400 won difference but also over the staff's perceived lack of apology or intent to correct the labels. The consumer noted that multiple items appeared to have outdated pricing.

Records indicate that Ottogi increased the price of its 210g instant rice products in convenience stores starting September 1, moving from 2,000 won to 2,400 won. While some online commenters suggested the error might be due to simple negligence in a busy environment, others questioned if the practice was a deliberate attempt to gain small profits from unsuspecting customers. The consumer has expressed intentions to file a formal complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
