Yerba Loca Mountain Festival Highlights Trail Running and Zero‑Waste

The third edition of the Yerba Loca Mountain Festival took place in the Farellones area of Chile, combining an entrepreneur fair, local food trucks, guided horse rides and nature talks. The sporting programme centred on the “Circuito El Buque” trail‑running challenge that traverses the valley’s first peaks and a new Boulder Championship, reinforcing the park’s reputation as a central rock‑climbing venue.

Organiser Nicolás said the festival aims to expand activities beyond winter, attract new audiences and promote year‑round outdoor recreation. Attendance has risen during warmer months, with more visitors engaging in trekking, wildlife watching and camping. The event follows a zero‑waste model: participants carry out all waste, reusable items are used, organic waste is composted and park rangers and volunteers monitor trail and habitat protection.
