FC Porto targets Mexican striker Santiago Giménez

FC Porto have emerged as the leading suitor for Mexican forward Santiago Giménez, who has struggled for playing time at AC Milan after joining in February 2025. Porto’s coach Francesco Farioli, who previously faced Giménez in the Eredivisie, has personally contacted the player and is pushing for a deal that could be a loan with an obligatory purchase option, reportedly valued around €30 million. Negotiations are ongoing with Milan, which holds Giménez under contract until 2029, and the Portuguese club is also weighing alternative options such as Irish striker Troy Parrott.

Lazio have also expressed interest, but the Italian side faces a more complex transfer formula. Reports indicate that both clubs must agree on Milan’s terms, including a possible salary reduction for the striker. Giménez’s recent record includes seven goals in 37 appearances for Milan and a serious ankle injury that limited his involvement during the 2026 World Cup.

If the move materialises, Porto would add a proven goal‑scorer to a squad that won the Primeira Liga and secured a Champions League group‑stage berth for 2026‑27, while Giménez would seek regular minutes to revive his career.
