Yettel Bank launches fully independent online account opening in Serbia

Yettel Bank has become the first bank in Serbia, and one of the first in Southeast Europe, to allow customers to open a bank account entirely independently via a mobile phone. The process is designed to take approximately 10 minutes through the Yettel Bank application, eliminating the need for branch visits, appointments, or video calls with employees.

Users complete the process by entering contact details, photographing an identity document, and verifying their identity through digital facial recognition. Once the contract is electronically signed, the account is immediately available along with an instant digital card for transactions.

Aleksandar Bogdanović, President of the Executive Board of Yettel Bank, stated that this move aims to make banking available whenever and wherever the user needs it. He also credited the National Bank of Serbia for creating a regulatory environment that allows for such technological innovation while maintaining high security standards. The system utilizes a Liveness mechanism for digital identity verification to ensure security.
