Yettel network sees record data traffic at Sziget Festival
The 32nd Sziget Festival set a new mobile data traffic record on the Yettel network, with attendees generating nearly 54 terabytes of data between August 9 and 16. To manage the high density of tens of thousands of people in an area of less than one square kilometer, Yettel invested over 50 million HUF to expand network capacity. This investment increased overall capacity by 20% and 5G capacity by 40% compared to the previous year, providing a level of capacity comparable to the city of Szombathely.
Data traffic peaked on August 13, coinciding with performances by Lewis Capaldi and Florence + The Machine. The festival saw significant international participation, with roaming users from 66 countries connecting to the network. Among foreign visitors, Dutch users generated the highest mobile data traffic, while Italian visitors recorded the highest volume of voice calls.
