Yhormar Hurtado legal challenge seeks return to América de Cali
The professional footballers' union, ACOLFUTPRO, has filed a legal injunction (acción de tutela) to allow player Yhormar Hurtado to return to competition with América de Cali.
Hurtado was sanctioned following a violation of FIFA's Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, which prohibits a player from participating with more than three clubs in a single season. During 2026, Hurtado played for Deportes Tolima, Always Ready, and América de Cali. While Dimayor allowed América de Cali to keep the points earned in matches where Hurtado played, the player was prohibited from participating for the remainder of the regular season and other competitions.
ACOLFUTPRO argues that the sanction violates the player's rights and his right to work. The América de Cali administration has expressed support for the footballer throughout the legal process.
