YIA Airport Rail Service transitions to KAI Commuter management

The Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) rail service, now operating as Commuter Line Bandara YIA, has recorded approximately 1.9 million passenger movements as of September 16, 2026. This follows a transition in management from PT Railink to KAI Commuter, which officially took over operations on September 17, 2026.

While the operator change has introduced new ticket booking channels integrated with KAI Commuter services, the existing routes, schedules, and fares remain unchanged. The service continues to provide essential connectivity between YIA, Stasiun Tugu, and Wates Station.

According to PT Railink, the combined passenger count for airport rail services in North Sumatra and Yogyakarta reached 5.1 million in the third quarter of 2026, with Yogyakarta accounting for the 1.9 million figure.
