Yilan County announces six new bilingual education certified schools
The Yilan County Government has announced that six additional schools have successfully passed the bilingual education certification. During a ceremony held on the 29th, Acting County Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng presented plaques to Wusha Junior High School, Wujie Junior High School, Guangfu Elementary School, Guting Elementary School, Yucai Elementary School, and Luodong Elementary School.
The certification recognizes the schools' efforts in implementing bilingual teaching, creating innovative cross-disciplinary curricula, and establishing immersive English learning environments. This initiative is part of the county's long-term ‘Love, English’ bilingual education program, which aims to build students' confidence in oral English and expand their international perspectives.
To support these goals, the county government provides resources through an English education resource center, recruits foreign teachers and assistants, and develops bilingual teaching staff. As of the 115th academic year, 34 schools in Yilan have achieved bilingual certification, with 57 bilingual situational classrooms established and 48 foreign teachers employed.
