Yilan County completes third youth health screening event

Yilan County has completed its third 'Health好young' integrated screening event of the year, with 1,091 participants attending the session at the Yilan Sports Park Gymnasium. This brings the total number of young adults screened during this year's three sessions to 3,402. Since 2014, the county has provided these services to over 30,000 residents aged 30 to 39.

Data from the past 12 years indicates that one in six individuals in this age group suffers from metabolic syndrome, with a higher prevalence in men (22%) compared to women (11.1%). While hepatitis B and C rates are declining, health officials noted gender-based differences in lifestyle risks: women report higher rates of non-smoking and non-betel nut chewing, but also higher rates of physical inactivity and moderate emotional distress.

The screening program includes physical examinations, blood and urine tests, hepatitis screening, chest X-rays, and cancer screenings for oral and cervical cancer. To improve eye health monitoring, the county utilized advanced technology, including AI-driven analysis and fundus photography. Additionally, the new 'Lanyang Health Cloud' system allows residents to access their historical health data digitally.
