The Yilan County Government has launched the 2026 Taiwan Science Festival—Yilan Science event. The opening ceremony, held at the Yilan County Hall and Red Brick Square, combines the 7th Taiwan Science Festival with the OSS Marine Science Sequence Exhibition.

The event features 34 science booths organized by various institutions, including National Yilan University, the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, and the National Ocean Research Institute. The program focuses on science, marine, and environmental education through hands-on activities, interactive exploration, and technological innovation.

Acting County Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng emphasized that science education remains a key policy for Yilan. The festival aims to encourage students to develop observation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills by discovering scientific principles within their daily lives and local environments.
