Yilan Waiao Gulang Festival begins with surfing and music

The 2026 Yilan Waiao Gulang Festival has officially commenced in Waiao, Toucheng, running through September 6. Organized by the Yilan County Government, the marine festival features a diverse range of activities including land, sea, and air experiences.

A major highlight is the surfing competition held from September 3 to 6, which features hundreds of participants and six international professional surfers from Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, and Indonesia. The event aims to showcase Waiao as a premier surfing destination and boost local marine tourism.

Other scheduled events include a beach market from September 4 to 6, traditional fishing culture experiences on September 5, and the Gulang Music Festival from September 5 to 6. The music festival features various artists such as Wei Li-an, MATZKA, and Xu Fu-kai. The festival will conclude with high-altitude fireworks displays on the final two nights.
