Meram district speeds up road and infrastructure projects
The Meram municipality in Konya has intensified its summer‑season road, asphalt, and pavement works across the district. Municipal engineering teams are laying hot and cold asphalt, installing curbs and paving new streets while simultaneously opening new avenues in expanding residential areas. Mayor Mustafa Kavuş inspected the projects, noting that Meram’s more than 7,500 streets are being upgraded now that the rains have ended.
The works include road leveling in the New City, Hadimi and Aymanas neighbourhoods, and creating new streets in Yaylapınar and Bahçeşehir after completing the required 18‑item infrastructure standards. Teams are operating around the clock, with additional vehicles added to the fleet to meet the accelerated schedule. The mayor emphasized that the aim is to provide comfortable, dust‑free travel for residents throughout the district.
Kavuş also met with local residents, listened to their concerns, and thanked municipal staff for their effort, offering cold refreshments during the hot weather. The municipality plans to continue the 24‑hour work rhythm until the upgraded road network is fully functional.
