YKS 2026 university preference process ends August 10

The 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) preference process is nearing its conclusion. Candidates have until August 10, 2026, at 23:59 to submit their university program choices via the ÖSYM Candidate Transactions System (AİS).

Approximately 2.4 million candidates applied for the exam. While a definitive date for the announcement of placement results has not been set by ÖSYM, expectations suggest results may be released during the final week of August. Following placement, university registration is scheduled to take place between August 24 and August 28, 2026, with electronic registration available from August 24 to 26.

Experts urge candidates to double-check their lists for technical errors, such as incorrect program codes or similar-sounding department names. Guidance has also been provided at the local level, including free counseling services in Çankaya and Nevşehir to help students make informed decisions regarding language of instruction, scholarship conditions, and location.
