Yüksekova explorers use horses to promote Cilo and Sat mountains

Members of the YEKDASDER Sports Club in the Yüksekova district of Hakkâri conducted a three-day horseback exploration to promote the region's natural beauty. The expedition utilized racing horses brought from Hatay by a nature enthusiast to traverse high-altitude routes in the Cilo and Sat mountains.

The journey covered three distinct routes: the first day focused on the Cilo-Sat mountains and Sat Lakes; the second day explored the Berçelan Plateau and its surrounding high-altitude lakes, where the group encountered local Koçer nomadic communities; and the third day traversed the Cennet-Cehennem Valley, reaching high areas containing glaciers.

Hakan Zanyar Aykut, Vice President of the club, stated that the initiative aims to provide a gateway for people to experience the nature of Hakkâri firsthand. He noted that while the club has previously explored these areas on foot through trekking and hiking, this horseback expedition offered a unique way to showcase the region's geography and traditional lifestyle to a wider audience via social media.
