Yüksekova nears completion of modern funeral washing facility

Construction is nearing completion on a modern gassilhane (funeral washing facility) in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. Located in the cemetery area of the TOKİ housing units in the Esenyurt neighborhood, the facility is designed to provide a sterile and efficient environment for funeral washing, shrouding, and other religious rites.

The project was initiated by Esenyurt Neighborhood Headman Sezai Açıkel and is being funded by businessman Reşit Güngör as a charitable contribution in memory of his father, H. Ahmet Güngör. The complex will include a modern washing area, a prayer room (mescit), a waiting area for relatives, and a dedicated room for municipal duty personnel.

Local officials state that the new facility aims to alleviate the heavy workload currently placed on the Yüksekova State Hospital regarding funeral services, allowing citizens to complete necessary procedures more quickly and with greater ease during times of mourning.
