Yüksekova's Sat Lakes region attracts visitor from Germany

Dursun Ali İlhan, a doctor living in Cologne, Germany, recently visited the Yüksekova region in Hakkari, Turkey, to explore its natural landscapes. Organized by the Yüksekova Ecological Mountaineering and Sports Club Association (YEKDASDER), the trip included a trek through the Sat Lakes area and a climb to the Kerez Summit.

During the excursion, the group passed through the area of Sat village, which was vacated in the 1980s. YEKDASDER President Suat Öztekin noted that the climbing route requires caution due to the fragile limestone rock structures. The region features several notable landmarks, including Sat Sivrisi, Süngütepe, and Sılö plateaus.

İlhan expressed high praise for the region's pristine air and scenery, encouraging other nature enthusiasts to visit. YEKDASDER continues to organize weekly activities aimed at promoting the local natural heritage and increasing environmental awareness.
