YMTC aims to become top NAND Flash producer by 2027

Yangtze Memory Technology Corporation (YMTC), a Chinese memory manufacturer based in Wuhan, aims to become the world's largest producer of NAND Flash memory by the end of 2027. Currently ranked as the third-largest manufacturer behind South Korea's Samsung and SK Hynix, the company plans to overtake these leaders through massive expansion of its production capacities.

To fund this growth, YMTC is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, with reports suggesting a target of raising approximately $5 billion. The capital is intended to modernize facilities and support research and development. The company's expansion strategy is bolstered by state subsidies aimed at securing dominance in the flash memory market.

The push comes amid a period of high demand for memory chips driven by artificial intelligence, with market forecasts predicting significant revenue growth for the sector through 2030.
