Yngwie Malmsteen Announces New Album “Hell Or High Water”

Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen has revealed details of his upcoming studio album Hell Or High Water, scheduled for release on 13 November through Music Theories Recordings and Artone Label Group. The nine‑track record, described as a continuous musical story, blends his signature neoclassical metal style with strings, choirs and drums, and is deliberately timed at 46 minutes to suit a vinyl format.

The first single, “Now or Never,” offers a preview of the album’s blend of soaring solos and melodic hooks. Malmsteen spent eight months writing roughly 80‑90 pieces during the pandemic, selecting the nine tracks that form the album, including an instrumental tribute titled “Father” dedicated to his late dad. In an interview he likened his creative process to painting, emphasizing his role as composer, producer and lyricist as well as guitarist.
