Yoav Segalovitz may join Ra’am party ahead of October elections
MK Yoav Segalovitz, a former head of the Israel Police’s Investigations and Intelligence Division, has indicated he will not run with the Yesh Atid party in the upcoming October 27 elections. Instead, Segalovitz is reportedly planning to join Ra’am, an Arab-led party.
Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas and Segalovitz confirmed they held cordial discussions regarding the possibility of Segalovitz joining the party's slate. If the move occurs, it would mark the first time in decades that a lawmaker from a Zionist party joins an Arab-led party.
This potential political shift could impact the ability of opposition groups to form a coalition and challenge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for control of the next government. Ra’am previously played a kingmaker role in the 2021 elections.
