Yogesh Singh reappointed as Delhi University Vice-Chancellor

Yogesh Singh has commenced a second consecutive five-year term as the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, effective from October 8, 2026, through October 2031. His reappointment was sanctioned by President Droupadi Murmu in her capacity as the university’s Visitor and was communicated by the Union Ministry of Education.

Singh is the first vice-chancellor in the institution's history to be reappointed for a second term under revised university statutes introduced in October 2023, which previously did not permit such extensions.

During his initial term, which began in 2021, Singh oversaw several major academic shifts aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These include the implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), the adoption of the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 2022, and the transition from board-mark-based admissions to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). His second term is expected to focus on the continued implementation of these reforms across the university's departments and colleges.
