Yogi Adityanath Approves ESIC Hospitals and Announces Giant Tree‑Planting Drive in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a cabinet meeting that approved the construction of two 100‑bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospitals—one in Gorakhpur and another in Moradabad—and the creation of an ESIC medical college in Varanasi. The state will provide land for the projects free of charge or at a concessional rate, with the medical college estimated to cost about ₹800 crore and to reserve half of its MBBS seats for children of insured workers.

In a separate initiative, Adityanath announced a statewide tree‑planting campaign scheduled for July 12, targeting the planting of 35 crore saplings in a single day. The drive aims to raise Uttar Pradesh’s green cover to 15 % by 2030 and 20 % by 2047. The chief minister directed all departments and a range of public and private institutions to prepare sites, secure saplings, and ensure post‑planting care, emphasizing biodiversity and public participation.
