Yogi Adityanath honors sanitation workers in Varanasi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored sanitation workers, known as ‘Swachhata Mitras’, during a ceremony in Varanasi. During the event, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to workers from the Municipal Corporation and Water Corporation, describing them as the ‘foundation stones’ of society who maintain cleanliness regardless of weather or seasonal conditions.

Addressing the transformation of Varanasi, Adityanath noted that the city has undergone significant changes since 2014, moving away from issues such as poor sanitation, electricity shortages, and congestion. He also addressed land encroachment, stating that land previously seized by mafias in areas like Prayagraj is being reclaimed to build high-rise housing for the poor, Dalits, and underprivileged communities.

The Chief Minister credited the success of the ‘Swachh Kashi’ mission to the efforts of local sanitation staff and highlighted the cleanliness maintained during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, which hosted 660 million pilgrims.
