Yogi Adityanath lauded for Uttar Pradesh's development and law‑order at Gorakhpur cricket stadium inauguration
On May 16, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri addressed the foundation‑laying ceremony of an International Cricket Stadium in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the state's transformation since 2017. Puri highlighted improvements in development, law‑and‑order, investment confidence, road, air and metro connectivity, health and education infrastructure, as well as initiatives in green energy, ethanol blending and compressed biogas plants that have boosted farmers' incomes.
He noted that housing demand in the state surged from 17 thousand to 1.7 million units after Yogi’s tenure began, and said the stadium project, funded in part by Indian Oil with a contribution of ₹60 crore and support from other oil firms, will inspire youth and could host IPL matches by 2029. Other officials, including Rural Development Minister Kamlesh Paswan, echoed the sentiment, calling the stadium a major gift to the eastern region.
The minister’s remarks underscore the political narrative that Uttar Pradesh has shifted from being known for its large population to being recognised for development, good governance and a secure environment that attracts investors.
