Yogi Adityanath unveils Rs 955 crore development projects in Azamgarh, orders FIR over remarks on SP chief's daughter
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 39 development projects in Azamgarh valued at over Rs 955 crore. He highlighted new infrastructure such as improved road links to Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Lucknow, the establishment of Maharaja Suheldev University, a proposed equestrian statue, and plans to convert the old jail into a convention centre. The CM touted growth in local crafts and welfare schemes, asserting that the district has moved from a lack of basic facilities to a “path of development.”
During the same event, Adityanath said he had directed police to register a First Information Report after alleged insulting remarks about Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav’s daughter. He urged the opposition to discipline its workers and reiterated the government’s focus on women’s safety and welfare, stating “Beti, beti hoti hain – a daughter is a daughter.”
