Yogyakarta Governor addresses alleged illegal levies in Alun-Alun Kidul

Governor of Yogyakarta DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, has addressed allegations of illegal levies (pungli) targeting micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) in the Alun-Alun Kidul (Alkid) area.

The Sultan stated that the resolution of this issue falls under the jurisdiction of the Yogyakarta City Government and the police rather than his office. He expressed concern regarding the legality of parking attendants determining fees, questioning whether they possess the official right to do so.

Following statements made by GKR Condrokirono regarding the matter, the Sultan urged relevant authorities to resolve the dispute. Meanwhile, the Yogyakarta City Transportation Agency has previously identified these practices as illegal levies. The Regional Secretary of DIY, Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti, noted that regulations regarding area utilization and designated parking zones are already in place to maintain order and visitor comfort.
