Yogyakarta holds simultaneous village head elections

Village head elections (Pilur) and interim replacement elections (Pilur PAW) were held simultaneously across three regencies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

KPH Yudanegara, Head of the Yogyakarta Department of Community Empowerment, Village, Population, and Civil Registration (DPMKKPS), monitored the proceedings to ensure they adhered to regulations and remained orderly. During the inspections, officials urged citizens to maintain harmony and prevent political differences from causing long-term social division within their communities.

Yudanegara emphasized that while leadership terms last eight years, community relationships are lifelong. He noted that the peaceful conduct of these elections should reflect the ‘special’ status of the Yogyakarta region.
