Yogyakarta hosts 2026 Jamsostek Awards for social security excellence
The 2026 Jamsostek Awards were held in Yogyakarta to recognize various local governments, companies, and villages for their contributions to social security. The event was attended by the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Service Director, Trisna Sonjaya.
As of September 2026, approximately 638,000 workers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta are active participants in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programs. This figure includes 449,000 wage earners, 122,000 informal workers, and 58,000 workers in the construction services sector. The coverage includes Old Age Security, Pension Security, Work Accident Security, and Death Security.
To expand protection, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is utilizing a ‘pentahelix’ collaboration model involving local governments, business associations like Apindo, labor unions, and academics. Additionally, the agency is implementing the Economic Empowerment and Heir Independence (PEKA) program, which provides financial literacy to beneficiaries and heirs of deceased participants to ensure the optimal and sustainable use of social security benefits.
